At FLY CANVAS, our initiative is to ensure that whenever you buy a product, you receive more than just the simple knowledge that you’ve done something good, but in their own writing, you learn the stories of the children and teachers who have benefitted from your purchase. Because knowing someone is the first step in being able to help them.

Along with every FLY CANVAS product will come a booklet with copies of handwritten notes and letters from the students and teachers who have directly been affected by your contribution. Not a note asking for help or a letter about how they’ve been helped, but simple stories about their lives, their families, what they love, and who they love – whatever it is they carry. You might even be inspired to write back about yourself and your own life, we include their address for you or you can send them to us and we’ll get them there.

The monetary contribution coming from every product you buy is important, but miniscule to the larger challenge we are proposing, a challenge that isn’t overcome by buying something, or even donating something, but the challenge to try and enter into the world of another human being. We do this everyday with our friends and family, but how about a stranger, and even further.

We hope that this can instill in us the idea that by simply listening to someone’s story, as inglorious as that is, does change things, and it can change us. Who knows what new things you may learn or better yet, what you might even have in common. But also know, that by doing what you love, carrying and sharing it the best way you can, you are already doing good, because the world needs more people who are alive and burning with what they love. That’s your unique flame. Know that your interest in these stories and the flames of others matters.
